NAR’s Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) Program

Commitment to Excellence (C2EX) from the National Association of REALTORS® empowers REALTORS® to evaluate, enhance and showcase their highest levels of professionalism. It's not a course, class or designation—it's an Endorsement that REALTORS® can promote when serving clients and other REALTORS®.  Get started on your journey today by logging in to www.C2EX.realtor and taking one of 11 self-assessments to measure your proficiency in various aspects of professionalism ranging from customer service to use of technology. The platform generates a customized learning path and recommends experiences and resources to enhance your individual skillset.

Keep in mind, the journey doesn't end there. The Commitment to Excellence program evolves as industry standards and best practices evolve. As new content, reference and resource materials are added to the platform, REALTORS® who have earned their C2EX Endorsement receive a notification inviting them back to engage and keep their skills and knowledge up to date.  Exactly three years from your original endorsement date, your C2EX Endorsement runs its cycle. Renewing your C2EX Endorsement lets you continue to show clients and colleagues your commitment to conducting your business at the highest professional standard. Learn how easy it is to renew (and BONUS...complete NAR’s Code of Ethics training requirement!).

Please note: The C2EX Endorsement does not qualify for Continuing Education credits through state licensing bodies. The C2EX program fulfills the Code of Ethics Training Requirement for existing members. As long as you RENEW this endorsement you have fulfilled the Code of Ethics Training Requirement.

Designation/Certification Programs

There are several Designation/Certification programs in a variety of special interest areas. Contact your local board to see when a program may be offered.

Online Education

CTR offers online education classes which can be completed in the privacy of your home or office and completed at your own pace. These courses can be taken to fulfill license renewal requirements, NAR Ethics requirement, obtain a designation, complete exam prep or just expand your overall knowledge on a variety of topics.

NAR Mandatory Ethics Training Requirement

Effective January 1, 2001 REALTORS® are required to complete REALTORS® Code of Ethics Training of not less than two hours and 30 minutes of instructional time. Each cycle previously ran every four years. As of 2019 Ethics is required every three years.

PLEASE NOTE: The current cycle runs from January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2024. Also, note that this is NOT a State of Connecticut requirement for license renewal, it is a National Association of REALTORS® requirement for ALL members.

It is your responsibility to make sure your local board/association has record of this.

If you still need to fulfill this requirement, you can do one of the following:

  • Take NAR's online version of the course. You will need to create an account (username and password) if you do not already have one.
  • Complete NAR's C2EX program for free. The Code of Ethics requirement is satisfied once you earn C2EX. Renewal of your C2EX every three years also satisfies the COE requirement. C2EX is not eligible for CE. Learn more about the C2EX program.
  • Contact your local board – many offer the ethics course to their members or partner with various online providers who offer classes which satisfy this requirement.
  • Obtain the list of approved Real Estate Schools from the Department of Consumer Protection and contact schools in your area for availability of this course.
